Vols fall to Alabama 35-13

TUSCALOOSA, Tenn. (WVLT) —Tennessee went three and out on their first possession, punitng and giving Alabama the ball on the Vols 35 yard line.

The good field position paid off for the Tide who scored a touchdown at the 11:24 mark of the first quarter.

Maurer's first interception of the game came after Jauan Jennings bobbled a pass, giving Alabama the ball back on the Vols 35 yard line. Nigel warrior intercepted an Alabama pass in the endzone and returned it to the Alabama 41 yard line.

Brian Maurer evened the score with a QB sneak after a big Juaun Jennigns gain to put Tennessee in the red zone.

Alabama quickly regained the lead just before the end of the 1st quarter.

Maurer left the game after sustaining a hit at the end of the 1st quarter, Guarantano entered the game and finished out the quarter.

Daniel Bituli was ejected on a targeting call early in the second quarter, Alabama scored shortly after that ti increase the Tide's lead to, 21-10.

Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa left the game late in the first half after an apparent lower leg injury.

The Vols had to settle for a field goal after squandering a first and goal opportunity in the third quarter.

Alabama scored again with 4:45 left in the third quarter to increase the Tide's lead 28-13.

The Vols squandered yet another redzone opportunity, Guarantano fumbled the ball on a 4th and goal attempt, resulting in a 100 yard Alabama touchdown.
