Tennessee baseball falls to Auburn in first round of SEC Tournament

HOOVER, Ala. (WVLT) -- Tennessee was about five feet from tying the game in the top of the ninth inning.

With a runner on, Christian Scott hit a near-home run to right field that was caught near the wall.

Auburn's two-run home run in the seventh inning turned out to be the difference in the game.

That was the last gasp for the Vols, who lost 5-3 to Auburn in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

Tennessee won 38 games in the regular season and earned the 9-seed in the conference tournament.

Tennessee will now await its fate in the NCAA Tournament.

Most experts agree in their projections that the Vols will have a spot in the national tournament, but that they will have to travel to another school for the regional round.
