KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Defensive lineman Kyle Phillips played in more than 40 games for Tennessee and racked up 114 tackles.
He was named to several national award watch lists during his time at Tennessee. Now it's time for the next step, and Phillips hopes that means a shot at the National Football League.
"It would mean everything. I've been playing football forever," said Phillips after his pro day in February.
Phillips is from Nashville, the site of this year's NFL Draft.
"It would be everything. Being from Nashville, that's very exciting that the NFL Draft is in my hometown the year I'm coming out. That's very exciting knowing I have an opportunity to get my name called in my hometown."
Experts are split on whether Phillips will be drafted, but most believe he's Tennessee's best chance at having somebody taken from this year's class of Vols.
The NFL Draft runs from Thursday to Saturday.
