KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It was 32 years ago today, Valentines Day 1987,
that Tony White dropped 51 points on Auburn. Fast-forward to now
and we all know that the Wizard is currently in the fight of his life battling leukemia.

Our colleague and ESPN.com senior writer Chris Low has been
friends with Tony since they arrived on the UT campus back in 1983.
Chris tells us White is about to enter a critical stage on his road to recovery.

Tony goes over to Nashville in March to undergo a bone marrow transplant. The good news is his brother Gene was a perfect 10 for 10 match so he'll be over there the second week of March all told, he'll be there for about 100 days the procedure, the recovery the cancer right now is in remission but the kind of cancer he has can come back even stronger if he doesn't have the bone marrow transplant.
