UT Baseball coach Tony Vitello agrees to extension

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- After a successful season leading the Volunteer baseball program to a regional final, Tony Vitello is here to stay on Rocky Top.

UT announced Wednesday a five year extension for Vitello, keeping him around until June 2024. He is set to earn $580,000 next season, eventually earning $650,000 by the end of his agreement.

The extension comes after Vitello "rejuvenated" the program since his arrival on Rocky top in 2017, leading the Vols to their first 40-win season since 2005.
