The UTK Clays club has a roster of around twenty student athletes according to the club's senor advisor, Megan Burgess, who says that group is hosting it's first ever fundraiser on Saturday to help pay for the team's travel expenses and competition entry fees. "We compete against club teams from all across the United States. we've traveled to Maryland, Savannah, georgia and San Antonio, Texas. We try to cover a lot of the cost of the sport and that's where our funds are going. It's for hotels and entry fees for the competition."
The club and it's members are passionate about a sport that they say is growing rapidly at the collegiate level, they hope that events like the upcoming fundraiser will encourage more folks to try out a sport they love "It's very casual we don't want to make people think they have to be incredibly skilled we just want them to come out and compete and teach people about the sport and show them ho fun it can be" said Burgess
The fundraising event is Saturday, April 20th at the Chilhowee Sportsman's Club in Blount County. Additional information about the event can be found on the club's Facebook page
