Spring is in the air as Jeremy Pruitt and the 2019 Tennessee football team are set to begin spring practice next Thursday
Upgrading was the theme for Pruitt's first off-season, as the Vols head coach successfully landed the #12 class in the country and recruited the talents of Offensive Coordinator Jim Chaney and the defensive mind of Derrick Ansley to join his staff.
Below are the offensive and defensive projected starters according to VolQuest...
On the offensive side of the ball,QB Jarrett Guarantano returns for his second year as starter handing the ball off to Ty Chandler and Tim Jordan
Marquez Callaway, Jauan Jennings, and Jordan Murphy lead the way for the Wide Receivers and Dominick-Wood Anderson starting at Tight End
In the trenches, Five-star Wanya Morris and second year guard Jahmir Johnson protect the left side of the ball, while Jerome Carvin and Marcus Tatum protect the right side with Brandon Kennedy at center.
The Offense will be coached by newly acquired coordinator Jim Chaney from Georgia
The Vols will have a new look on the defensive line as John Mincey, Aubrey Solomon and Emmit Gooden take over in the interior. Senior Darrell Taylor will primarily play outside linebacker and will rotate to defensive end.
Daniel Bituli and Darrin Dirkland lead the way for the linebacker core along with DeAndre Johnson at the SAM position
For the Vols secondary, the highly touted Sophomore Duo of Bryce Thompson and Alontae Taylor return along with safeties Nigel Warrior and Trevon Flowers
