Vols baseball hoping to stay perfect vs. Nothern Kentucky

The Tennessee baseball team is off to an excellent start this season. And they're looking to stay hot on Tuesday afternoon.

The Vols (3-0) will host the Northern Kentucky Norse (0-3) for their first midweek game of the season. The game is set for a 4:30 p.m. ET first pitch.

Tennessee recorded its first series shutout in program history over the weekend against Appalachian State. The Vols got three excellent starts from veteran hurlers Garrett Stallings, Zach Linginfelter and Will Neely.

UT's eight pitchers who threw combined to allow just nine hits in the series. They also struck out 32 Mountaineers.

Vols sophomore Sean Hunley is expected to get the start. Hunley posted a team-best 7-3 record with a 2.94 ERA in 14 starts as a freshman last season. His seven victories tied him for fourth all-time by a Tennessee freshman. Northern Kentucky will throw right-hander Proctor Mercer, who will also be making his first start of the season.

Tuesday's game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ and the WatchESPN app.
