Vols LB Sapp declares for NFL Draft

Another cog in Tennessee's defense won't be coming back in 2019.

Linebacker Quart'e Sapp announced Friday he plans to forego his fifth and final season of eligibility to declare for the NFL Draft.

Sapp, a fourth-year junior in 2018, made the announcement in a video on Twitter.

He was one of the 11 Vols to graduate Friday.

Sapp thanked former UT coach Butch Jones in his video, as well as former defensive coordinator John Jancek for recruiting him. He also thanked current coach Jeremy Pruitt for his continued support and for helping him become more versatile.

This season, Sapp recorded 29 total tackles in nine games, including a season-high eight against Alabama. He notched five tackles in games against both Auburn and Georgia.

The linebacker played a vital role in Tennessee's 2017 team, starting in eight games that season. Prior to that, he played two games in 2016, suffering a season-ending knee injury against Ohio.
