KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- WWE is giving women the spotlight by making the main event of the 35th WrestleMania a triple threat Raw women's championship match. The match will feature WWE Superstars Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair.
WWE has been planning to "move into this direction" ever since Rousey became a part of the WWE franchise, CBS sports reports. All three of these women have proven to be a factor to the success of WWE in the last couple of years. Lynch is one of the most popular superstars in the franchise today and is even named the 2018 Wrestler of the Year by CBS Sports.
Not only is this match being the main event a step in the right direction for women, but also the fact that the company has decided to re-brand the entire women's department overall. The former "Divas" of WWE are now branded as Superstars, just like the men. The match will take place Sunday, April 7th at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey.
