KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Coming this weekend in Crossville, it's one of the most prestigious
golf tournaments for ladies in the state of Tennessee.
It's the annual Women's State Open Championship at the famed Stonehenge golf course. Last year's event saw players from 17 different states and Mexico attend. It'll feature at least 120 competitors in a sport becoming increasingly popular among the young ladies says Fairfield Glade Director of Golf Jeff Houston, "We're seeing a lot of new golfers coming in and people are trying to get them into golf because of the integrity of the game and just the tradition of it and it's a lot of fun too, you can play golf your entire life. It's hard to play basketball and baseball your entire life, but golf has an unlimited future for you."
The event is open to the public. Just take exit 322 off I-40.
It runs this Friday thru Sunday, the 26th thru the 28th.
