Man dies after being pulled from Douglas Lake

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A 26-year-old man has died after he was pulled from Douglas Lake Monday.

Officers responded to the TVA swimming area off Boat Launch Road around 4:40 p.m. on a possible drowning.

Witnesses say the victim was swimming in the designated swimming area and he swam to the deepest end. He was then found floating minutes later outside the roped off swimming area.

Other swimmers pulled the victim to the shore where CPR was initiated and continued until EMS arrived. The victim was taken to Leconte Medical Center in Sevierville where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The drowning is under investigation and at this time but no foul play is suspected.

The victim was not wearing a flotation device.
