I-40 West reopens after multi-vehicle crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Crews with the Knoxville Fire Department reported they were on the scene of a “significant motor vehicle accident,” Saturday night.

I-40 West was down to one lane near Cedar Bluff Road as crews worked the crash.

“Consider alternate routes such as Kingston Pike or Middlebrook Pike,” KFD officials said.

Officials with the Knoxville Police Department also warned drivers to expect delays and take alternate routes.

As of 7:15 p.m., traffic was backed up for at least five miles.

The interstate was later reopened.

This is a developing story.
