Now-former Tennessee deputy accused of raping woman at traffic stop
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) - An indictment accuses a now-former sheriff’s deputy of raping a woman during a traffic stop last year.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says 63-year-old Marvin Lee Norfolk Sr. is charged with rape, attempted rape, official misconduct, and tampering with evidence.
Norfolk turned himself in to law enforcement on Tuesday. He’s now being held at the Haywood County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
The TBI says agents began investigating allegations of misconduct against Norfolk in August 2025. At the time, Norfolk was employed as a deputy with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office.
After months of investigation, the TBI presented a grand jury with evidence alleging that Norfolk had sexually assaulted a woman during a traffic stop.
The four-count indictment was returned against him on Monday. No other information regarding the investigation has been released.
Action News 5 is pending more information from the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office on Norfolk’s employment history.
