KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Knox County man was convicted after kidnapping his girlfriend and assaulting her for more than seven hours, District Attorney Charme Allen announced Friday.

The man, Timothy Dewayne Stanton, 48, locked his girlfriend and himself inside a camper on her mother’s property in January of last year, Allen said, and assaulted her from around midnight to 7:30 a.m. During the assault, Stanton broke the woman’s ribs, fractured her ocular bones, and gave her a concussion and several cuts to the head, Allen added.

As Stanton was moving her from the camper to his truck the next morning, Allen said, she was able to run to her mother’s house and get help, while Stanton ran. Allen added that police later found blood stains in the camper.

“My office handles more domestic-related warrants than any other type of crime,” said Allen. “The sentence in this case should give the victim a sense of peace for years to come.”

Stanton was convicted of aggravating kidnapping, aggravated assault and domestic assault. He faces eight to 12 years.
