Knox County Growth Plan fails in Farragut
The plan hasn’t been updated since it was created in 2001.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Farragut Board of Mayor and Alderman voted against changing the Knox County Growth Plan Thursday.
The plan hasn’t been updated since it was created in 2001.
The development would help pave the way for an estimated 70,000 people who are expected to move to Knox County in the next 20 years.
The County Commission and Knoxville City Council approved the changes back in January.

Under state law, the Farragut council has to pass it even if the town isn’t involved in the plan.
With the failing vote, the plan will be put on pause or be thrown out altogether and the current plan will remain.
Farragut also failed the vote to change the plan in 2020 as well.
