15-year-old Charleigh Freeman earns One Knox Women first ever win

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - One Knoxville SC Women took home their first win at Covenant Health Park Wednesday, snatching a 1-0 victory over Birmingham.

Charleigh Freeman, just 15, scored the goal that put One Knox Women over the top.

“I mean it was awesome - I wish every player could get the opportunity!” Freeman said. “All the girls just came and hugged me, it was something unforgettable.”

Freeman’s a freshman at West High School and was the only high schooler on the field when she scored.

She scored in the 23rd minute after earning a free kick just outside the box, a header tucked just inside the post.

Freeman is also a product of One Knox’s youth system. She’s been sporting the One Knox crest for three years before becoming the youngest goal-scorer in the club’s senior team history.
