KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A sinkhole caused a road closure at McGhee Tyson Airport Thursday night.
Becky Huckaby said Thursday evening that “A portion of Airport Loop Road will be closed indefinitely and airport visitors will be rerouted,” TYS officials said. “This roadway is the main road circling the airport terminal building and garage.”
Airport officials had asked fliers to arrive at least three hours before their flight while repairs were made to the road way.
Just after 11:30 p.m. airport officials announced that the road had reopened.
In a Friday update, the airport posted that it took four hours and 70 cubic yards (seven to eight truckloads) of concrete to fill the hole.
