Family pleads for answers after father critically injured in hit-and-run crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A father is fighting for his life in the hospital after a hit-and-run crash in South Nashville, and police are still searching for the driver who left him in the road.

Kameron Pruitt, 26, was on his way home from work around 11 p.m. last Thursday when a dark-colored sedan turned left onto Faulkner Drive from Haywood Lane and hit his motorcycle, according to Metro Nashville Police. The vehicle then fled the scene.

“He was almost home. He didn’t make it there,” said June Jones, Pruitt’s grandmother. “His mother woke up the next morning and thought he must have gone to see a friend because his motorcycle wasn’t outside.”

Jones, who lives in Georgia, has been traveling back and forth to Nashville to support her family as they seek justice.

Pruitt was found on the road critically injured and was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He suffered a fractured spine, broken fingers, and a light stroke, according to his family. 

“He’s got a son - Avery - handsome little son, that looks just like him,” Jones said. “He loved his son more than anything.”

The family describes Pruitt as a fighter, a dedicated worker, and a loving father. They say his recovery will be a long journey, but they are holding on to hope and demanding accountability.

“I don’t care, as long as we get Kameron back,” Jones said. “We’re going to do everything we have to do. We just need answers to who did this.”
