Knoxville Ice Bears announce longtime general manager as next CEO
Mike Murray will also remain as president and co-owner of the Ice Bears.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Ice Bears have announced that the team’s longtime general manager, Mike Murray, has been elevated to the role of CEO.
The organization says Murray joined the Ice Bears’ front office in 2005 as the president and general manager. As he takes on the new role of CEO, Murray will remain as the organization’s president and co-owner.
“I am honored to take on the roles of CEO, president and co-owner of the organization,” said Murray. “I look forward to advancing our strategic vision, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and elevating our brand, culture and presence within the community. Strengthening relationships with civic leaders will be a key focus as we work collaboratively toward securing a new venue for the Ice Bears.”
According to the organization, during Murray’s time as president and general manager, the Ice Bears have won four President’s Cups and five William B. Coffey trophies as SPHL regular season champions.
Murray’s now former position of general manager will be taken over by Dave Feather, the organization’s longtime executive vice president who was elevated to the role last week.
The Ice Bears’ 24th season officially begins on Oct. 18.
