Three people, including one Knoxville officer, injured in multi-vehicle crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The intersection of Kingston Pike and Northshore Drive was closed after a three-car crash that involved a Knoxville Police Department officer, according to KPD.

It happened Sunday night around 7 p.m.

“Two occupants in one of the involved vehicles sustained critical injuries in the crash. The involved officer, who was not responding to a call or operating lights or sirens at the time of the collision, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” KPD Communications Manager Scott Erland said in a news release.

KPD said the Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation due to the severity of the crash and the involvement of the KPD officer.
