First democratic candidate joins Knox County mayoral race
Beau Hawk will run in the May 5 democratic primary.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knox County mayoral race now has its first democratic candidate.
Beau Hawk entered his name into the race on Thursday and will run in the democratic primary on May 5.
Hawk grew up in Chattanooga before moving to Knoxville. He is the president of the Knoxville-Oak Ridge Central Labor Council, a member of the Ironworkers Local 384 and works as the business representative for the Knoxville Building & Construction Trades Council.
Hawk said his campaign will be focused on working families and putting them first.
“Knox County doesn’t have leadership that puts working families first,” Hawk said. “This campaign is by and for the people who make this community work, and I’m fighting for a Knox County that’s affordable and prosperous for all of us.”
So far, Hawk is the only democratic candidate to join the race. There are multiple republican candidates in the race, including Kim Frazier, Larsen Jay and Betsy Henderson.
