KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Later this week, you’ll have a chance to see some terrific hockey as the Knoxville Ice Bears host two games.

While there, keep an eye out for Rachel Jackson, the club’s new head athletic trainer. It’s not the easiest job in the world for what is such a fast paced and injury prone sport as Jackson said it requires constant focus.

“You’re just constantly watching to see what’s going on and also making sure that people are getting hit into the boards, making sure that they’re getting up, making sure that if they are slow to get up, then they’re okay to keep going on,” Jackson said. “Also, there’s a lot of blood.”

Jackson is serving in the role through KOC’s Sports Medicine Outreach program.

The team is home Friday and Saturday night’s at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum with opening face-off both night’s at 7:30 p.m.
