Man charged with aggravated arson after Knoxville building fire
Investigators say multiple fires were set inside occupied building on Randolph Street
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A 46-year-old man has been charged with aggravated arson after multiple fires were set inside an occupied building last week.
Assistant Chief Mark Wilbanks crews with the Knoxville Fire Department said crews were called to a reported building fire at Store Space, 201 Randolph St., at 11:09 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24.
When firefighters arrived they found multiple fires burning in the building. Crews put out the fires with minimal damage to the building, Wilbanks said.
KFD fire investigators worked to identify a suspect and charged 46-year-old Christopher Kirkpatrick with one count of aggravated arson because other people were in the building at the time of the fire, KFD said.
Wilbanks said that Kirkpatrick was taken into custody by the Knoxville Police Department on separate charges on March 28. He is being held at the Roger D Wilson Detention Facility.
