40,000 pounds of lumber spill onto I-75, causes congestion: TDOT

SWEETWATER, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Department of Transportation said 40,000 pounds of lumber on the side of I-75 North is causing delays.

TDOT’s SmartWay traffic map first reported the congestion near mile marker 62 in Monroe County just before 9 a.m.

According to TDOT’s Mark Nagi, the lumber has been cleared from the roadway and will be removed from the side of the interstate Friday afternoon.

This portion of I-75 will also be affected by bridge demolition, which will close the interstate entirely at Exit 62.
