Knoxville police arrest 15-year-old with AR-style pistol

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Officials with the Knoxville Police Department said a 15-year-old boy was arrested on Monday night after officers spotting him armed with an AR-style pistol at the Five Points apartment complex.

Officers saw the teen around 10:45 p.m. and attempted to stop him, but he ran into an apartment on Taylor Homes Road, according to the Knoxville Police Department. The teen exited the apartment a short time later and was detained.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment, which led to the discovery of an “assault rifle” pistol loaded with green-tip ammunition, additional assorted ammunition and drug paraphernalia, KPD said.

The teen was taken into custody on charges that include unlawful possession of a weapon and evading arrest. KPD said that he was not identified due to his juvenile status.
