The Fentress County Sheriff’s Office said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation executed an indictment involving Reagon and former Detective Jerry Mifflin in November 2025. Both were charged with destruction of and tampering with government records. Reagon resigned in December 2025.

Court documents said Reagon voluntarily waived his right to trial and formal indictment. He received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days of supervised probation. He is also ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.

The agreement mandates he permanently surrender his P.O.S.T. certification, ending his eligibility to serve as a law enforcement officer.

A Fentress County grand jury indicted Reagon and Mifflin in November 2025 TBI said Mifflin turned himself in and was booked into the Fentress County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Reagon was also booked but was released on his own recognizance.

TBI said in April it began investigating allegations of misconduct involving Reagon and Mifflin.

The investigation revealed that in December 2024, Jerry Mifflin, at Sheriff Reagon’s direction, fraudulently completed mandatory in-service training courses on the sheriff’s behalf to keep him in compliance with the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission. The fraudulently obtained P.O.S.T. training credits also made Reagon eligible for a salary supplement.

Jerry Mifflin is scheduled to be back in court on June 26 for a plea deadline hearing.
