MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Monroe County Emergency Services is crediting one of the county’s dispatchers with helping to save an owl.

In an announcement Tuesday, MCES said the owl had gotten stuck in a trap and needed help.

“This beautiful owl recently endured something heartbreaking after its leg became caught in a trap,” the announcement said. “Despite the injury, it had reportedly been flying with the trap attached for several days before help finally arrived.”

The dispatcher — Amanda — then helped in rescuing the owl, the service said.

“Dispatchers are often known as the calm voice behind the headset, but compassion and service don’t stop when the phones are quiet. We’re proud of the caring people behind the scenes who are always willing to help — whether it’s a person, a pet, or wildlife in distress," the EMS said.
