One Knox unveils new kit in honor of renowned Knoxville icon
The Club has designed the kit in partnership with the Beck Cultural Exchange Center and Regions Bank.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -Sports are not simply about success on the field but about celebrating a community and recognizing those who represent it well.
For One Knox, honoring the legacy of a renowned Harlem Renaissance artist and human rights activist who was raised right where the team suits up each night was an easy decision.
The club revealed the Delaney Kit on Tuesday, honoring Knoxville-born Beauford Delaney and celebrating the life of an international talent who spent his early years in Knoxville.
Delaney spent most of his early childhood in the area around Covenant Health Park in the early 1900’s before moving abroad to Paris to pursue his artistic dreams.
Fans who purchase the jersey have a portion of the proceeds go to the Beck Cultural Exchange Center’s efforts to preserve Delaney’s ancestral home and establish the Beauford Delaney Museum.
Regions Bank also pledged a $10,000 donation to support the project.
One Knox will debut the Delaney Kit versus the New York Cosmos for 865 Night on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. inside Covenant Health Park.
