One Knox earns 3-1 win over New York Cosmos

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - One Knox scored a pair of first-half goals on its way to a 3-1 victory over the New York Cosmos on Saturday night inside Covenant Health Park.

Wearing kits honoring the late Beauford Delaney, Knoxville netted its first goal on a Babacar Diene penalty kick in the eighteenth minute.

Knoxville added to its lead in the 35th minute, as Denis Krioutchenkov took advantage of sloppy play from New York goalkeeper Javier Garcia, who saw his attempt to clear the area ricochet off Krioutchenkov back into his own net.

New York rallied in the second half, pulling within one goal in the 51st minute, before Mikkel Gøling iced it in the 73rd minute.

One Knox improves to 7-2-3 on the year and has won back-to-back USL League One matches and extends its unbeaten streak to three in USL One.

Knoxville travels to Spokane Velocity next Saturday.
