SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Sevier County Animal Shelter said it is in desperate need of people to adopt or foster after taking in dozens of animals from a hoarding case.
According to the shelter, it took in 23 dogs and five cats from a hoarding case on Tuesday despite it already being “far over capacity.”
All 28 arrived emaciated and scared, but the shelter said they were doing better than expected, getting their vaccinations on Tuesday and evaluations from a veterinarian on Wednesday.
The shelter said it is “in desperate need of people to foster, foster to adopt, or adopt,” and as a result, all adoption fees are waived until further notice.
Anyone looking to foster or adopt can stop by the shelter during its open hours for more information or to pick out one of the animals to adopt. It is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.
The shelter added that is also in need of volunteers, supplies for the animals and donations toward vet care.
