Hot weekend ahead

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Tracking the heat ramping up through the weekend.

THURSDAY: Spotty showers are expected throughout the afternoon, with partly cloudy skies. High temperatures will range from the upper 80s to low 90s. The Cumberland Plateau will be slightly cooler, with temperatures in the low to mid-80s. High humidity will make it feel like the upper 90s to low triple digits.

FRIDAY: Spotty showers remain in the forecast, but it will mostly be dry. High temperatures will begin to rise, reaching the low to mid-90s.

WEEKEND: Temperatures will peak in the mid-90s, with many people in East Tennessee feeling like 99-110 degrees. Rain may be in the forecast, but overall it will be mostly dry.

LOOKING AHEAD: The 90s are expected to persist through the work week. Humidity may dip slightly, which could improve conditions; however, it will still be hot.
