The student was served with a juvenile petition Tuesday and charged with making threats of mass violence on school property, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said.

Homeland Security Investigations, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and McMinnville Police Department conducted the investigation.

Officials said the “Cat in the Hat” trend involves AI-generated videos and images showing the Dr. Seuss character appearing to lurk near homes, schools and other locations. Authorities said such images can be disturbing and perceived as threats.

The case comes as Tennessee Homeland Security investigates similar posts that included threats naming real children and, in some cases, images of homes and addresses.

The sheriff’s office encouraged parents to discuss online safety, responsible technology use and the consequences of creating or sharing threatening content.
