Funeral home scam targets grieving families in Tennessee

WINCHESTER, Tenn. (WSMV) - Another scam is targeting Middle Tennessee families who have lost a loved one.

Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester said that two families have reached out to them, saying they got a call from a Nashville-based number claiming to be a funeral home employee.

The scammer told the families they owed the funeral home money.

“Please, do not fall victim to this!” Moore-Cortner said.

The business said the Winchester Police Department is now investigating the incidents.

Woodbury Funeral Home and Neal Funeral Home, Inc. have also warned Middle Tennesseans of similar ongoing scams.
