Texas man charged after 44 pounds of meth found in suitcase
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Texas man is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell methamphetamine after agents found more than 44 pounds of the drug in a suitcase, according to an affidavit.
Juan Daniel Leal Nunez was detained Tuesday in the area of Airways Boulevard and East Brooks Road following what agents described as a consensual encounter.

The affidavit states Leal Nunez gave verbal consent to search a backpack and a suitcase he was carrying. Inside were two vacuum-sealed bags of methamphetamine weighing more than 44 pounds.

Investigators say the meth was being transported from Houston to Memphis. They estimate it is worth about $250,000 wholesale, with a street value of about $500,000.
The drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
