Ground cinnamon recalled ahead of holiday season due to elevated lead risk, FDA says
(Gray News) - Ground cinnamon is being recalled in 14 states ahead of the holiday season.
SLR Food Distribution Inc said it’s voluntarily recalling Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon because it could be contaminated with elevated levels of lead, according to a recall alert.
The affected cinnamon was sold in retail and grocery stores between Sept. 8, 2025, and June 28, 2026, in Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

According to the recall notice, lead exposure can impact nearly every bodily system, with effects depending on dosage, duration, and an individual’s age and weight. Low-level, short-term exposure may not produce immediate symptoms, and no illnesses have been reported to date.
Here’s what to check for:
- Description: 110 grams (3.88 ounces) clear plastic container with a black screw-top cap.
- Best-before date: April 25, 2027.
- UPC: 0688474302754 (printed on the back label)
Short-term exposure to very low levels of lead may not cause any symptoms, and so far, no illnesses have been reported as a result of the potentially contaminated cinnamon, according to the recall alert.
Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled product and to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
