Community honors fallen Loudon County Deputy Jason Scott with 20th anniversary memorial
The Loudon County community honored fallen Deputy Jason Scott, who died in the line of duty in 2004.
LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Loudon County community members gathered at the Loudon County Justice Center Tuesday to honor the 20th anniversary of Deputy Jason Scott, who was killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic call.
Scott’s death is something that has had a heavy affect on the Loudon County community, including the sheriff’s office where he served for three years. Reports state that Scott responded to Palmer Drive on March 12, 2004 after a call said a 16-year-old boy was attacking his mother. When Scott arrived on the scene, he was shot four times, killing him.
“He is forever a piece of our past, our history and our future. His service and legacy line the halls of our agency and forever keep his memory alive in all of us,” Loudon County Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Three other officers were injured in the shooting, and Scott was killed just days before his daughter, Jayden, was born.
The officer’s loss has heavily affected the community around him. Loudon High School has presented an annual award named after him to outstanding student performers, and a section of I-75 was renamed in his honor.
