Man allegedly told grandfather he wouldn’t say where his dog was unless he bailed him out of jail
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Gray News) - A man in Tennessee allegedly told his grandfather he would only tell him where he left his car with the family’s pit bull inside if he bailed him out of jail, according to reports.
Marvin Blayne Royer, 23, was booked into the Hamilton County Jail Tuesday and charged with theft of property, evading arrest, car theft, extortion and animal cruelty.

According to a report from WTVC, Royer’s grandfather reported to police on Monday night that Royer was last seen with his mother and her pit bull at the Home Depot in Hixon, Tennessee. The police affidavit obtained by WTVC said Royer’s mother returned from the store to find Royer, her car and her pet all missing.
It was reported Royer was then arrested for shoplifting near the Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga, Tennessee, about 11 miles away from where he allegedly disappeared with his mother’s car.
After his arrest, WTVC reported Royer contacted his grandfather to tell him he was arrested. When asked where the car and dog were, Royer allegedly said that he wouldn’t tell his grandfather where they were unless he posted his bond.
The car was found by a police officer, with the dog locked inside, near where Royer was initially arrested.
Royer remains booked in the Hamilton County Jail at this time. No bond amount has been set.
