Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg reopens after no suspicious package found, city says

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Gatlinburg Police Department was one of several departments to respond to a reported suspicious package Tuesday evening.

According to a city spokesperson, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Parkway at around 8:45 p.m.

As a precaution, officials said vehicular and pedestrian traffic was rerouted along Parkway and Maples Lane, but it reopened shortly after 10 p.m. after no suspicious package was found.

Other responding agencies include the Sevierville Police Department, Pigeon Forge Police Department and the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office.
