COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office said the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash.

According to Sheriff CJ Ball, the crash happened on Rocky Top Road just before 9 a.m. and required a response from several agencies.

A preliminary report from THP said an articulated dump truck driven by 58-year-old Dennis Sewell, of North Carolina, was loaded with road mix and constructing a better roadway on Rocky Top Road.

There, THP said Sewell backed over the edge of the road, which caused it to overturn and roll down the mountain. The truck came to rest about halfway down the mountain.
