Mooresburg Utility District out of water, customers asked to boil

HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Mooresburg Utility District ran out of water Thursday morning, according to the Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency. There’s no word on when the issue will get repaired and the utility district has asked customers to boil water for drinking or bathing.

Several agencies have been working to gather bottled water. The EMA said those interested in donating can do so at 810 Old Hwy 11 W in Mooresburg.

Additionally, the East Rogersville Baptist Church has made its community center available for showering. That’s located at 1100 E. McKinney Ave. in Rogersville and will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The utility district itself posted an update, saying there were several reasons the water had been cut off. Specifically, MUD said they were seeing a “major leak” due to weather, which was draining the tank. Additionally, MUD said they usually purchase water from Bean Station Utility, but Bean Station also has a leak draining their tank.
