KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Tennessee junior safety Edrees Farooq suffered a right leg injury at preseason practice on Friday morning, our media partners at Volquest reports.

Farooq was transported to UT Medical via ambulance from practice. Volquest reports that the ambulance arrived to Tennessee’s practice field with lights on and Farooq was taken off on a stretcher. The ambulance departed from the facility without the lights on.

Farooq is a pivotal part of Tennessee’s secondary. He returns to Rocky Top after having a stellar sophomore campaign in 2025, starting all 13 games for Tennessee.

Farooq logged 76 tackles last season, tied for the third on the team. He led the Volunteers in solo tackles with 37.

As a freshman at Tennessee, Farooq played in 13 games with 13 tackles and one tackle for loss.
