Exciting changes are coming to your WVLT newscasts!

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - WVLT News is excited to announce changes and additions to our daily newscasts!

Some of your favorite anchors are moving on to new shows, and WVLT is offering even more chances to stay up to date with East Tennessee news.

Brittany Tarwater will anchor a new weekday newscast at 3:30 p.m. with Meteorolgist Paige Noel, starting Tuesday, Sept. 5. Tarwater is an Emmy Award-winning journalist with more than a decade of experience. A very important series of stories on the dangers of drowning told by Tarwater were awarded a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award in 2021. She is a University of Tennessee graduate.

Additionally, evening anchor Will Puckett will take on a new weekday newscast at 7 p.m., starting Tuesday, Sept. 12. Puckett will continue reporting and anchoring WVLT News at 4 with Brittany Tarwater. He joined the WVLT team in 2020, before that, he was a reporter and anchor for WVLT’s sister-station in Kentucky. He’s been recognized by the Associated Press for some of his work.

WVLT News This Morning anchor Casey Wheeless is making a change too, joining Ted Hall in anchoring WVLT’s 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts. Casey is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and was recognized by the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists as “Best Anchor” in 2020 and 2021. She has been a dedicated morning anchor for more than six years and has been with WVLT since 2013.

“Our new newscasts at 3:30 and 7 p.m. will allow WVLT News to reach viewers at times that are convenient for them,” Pete Veto, WVLT’s general manager said. “It will allow us to cover the day’s news and First Alert Weather as it unfolds during the afternoon. Our 7 p.m. news will allow people who may not be available to watch an afternoon newscast the ability to stay informed on the day’s important stories.”
