Woman dies after being ejected from car in crash on I-40 near Papermill Drive, Knoxville police say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A deadly crash caused major traffic delays on I-40 Monday night, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

According to KPD, the crash, which involved two cars, happened on I-40 West at mile marker 383 at around 8 p.m.

Police said that one of the drivers, 50-year-old Laura Vinot of Jefferson City, was ejected from her car. She was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

KPD crash reconstruction investigators determined that Vinot was attempting to change lanes when her mini van clipped a Chevy Tahoe.

Police said her mini van skidded off the road and rolled over multiple times.
