tnAchieves needs 600 more volunteer mentors by Friday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - tnAchieves is still looking for 600 volunteer mentors ahead of its Nov. 14 deadline. The group connects mentors to high school students as part of a state plan to guide them on their path to college or the workforce.

“Mentors play an important part in ensuring students have the support necessary to take their next steps from high school to college or college to career,” said tnAchieves Director of Mentors, Baylor Atkins. “Mentors help Build Tennessee’s Future Workforce by breaking down barriers for students and helping students to achieve their goals while also ensuring that the workforce of tomorrow thrives.”

In a call for mentors, tnAchieves spokespersons said the group offers training, support and resources to mentors to make sure they can support students. Each mentor will work with a small group, and the commitment is just one hour of time per month. The program is also hosted virtually.
