Man charged after deadly motorcycle hit-and-run on Clinton Highway, Knoxville police say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department said a man has been charged after a deadly hit-and-run that happened Saturday afternoon.

According to KPD, officers responded to Clinton Highway at Bradshaw Garden Road at around 4:20 p.m. for a crash involving a motorcycle. There, witnesses said the other car involved left the scene. Officers reviewed nearby video footage and identified the car involved.

The rifer of the motorcycle, 25-year-old Kobe Sims from Nashville, was critically injured and later died at an area hospital, KPD said.

KPD said investigators believed the car involved in the crash was traveling north on Clinton Highway and tried to turn left onto Bradshaw Garden Road but pulled into the path of the motorcycle, which was traveling south, and resulted in the motorcycle crashing into the passenger side of the car. The car then continued on Bradshaw Garden Road, away from the scene of the crash.

About two hours after the crash, officers found the car at an apartment complex and made contact with the driver, 57-year-old Steven Dockery, of Knoxville.

“Dockery exhibited signs of being under the influence and was subsequently taken into custody for multiple charges, including vehicular homicide by intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death,” KPD said in a release.

The crash remains under investigation.
