Train crashes into semi-truck, Greeneville police say

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A train crashed into a semi-truck Wednesday in Greeneville, according to the Greeneville Police Department.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. on W. Irish Street near the Railroad Street intersection and prompted officers to respond, according to GPD Lieutenant Joe Prokop.

“Prior to officers arriving on scene, a train had struck the semi-truck. There were no injuries as the truck driver exited his vehicle prior to the collision,” Prokop said.

According to the department, the truck was delivering paper goods. Cleanup is ongoing.
